hive - timestamp support for parquet

I'm getting "java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Parquet does not support timestamp. See HIVE-6384" when trying to create external table: CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE globalVarsEvents2 ( USER_ID STRING, EVENT_TIME TIMESTAMP, ... ) PARTITIONED BY (date DATE) STORED AS PARQUET LOCATION '...'; I know that current hive version should support this.. H=Why do I get the error?

We could upgrade your Account to Hive 1.2 if that helps solving this problem. I havent verified if your account is already set to use 1.2 or if this problem goes away with that Hive Version. Let us know...
