dracut emergency shell -> mount an usb device

Hi all,
1) I have a Win 8.1, and burned the v3.1 iso on a USB with the Rufus tool (as suggested in
https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/installation-guide/#burning-the-iso-onto-a-dvd-or-usb-stick )
2) Qubes didnt run successfully
- Unable to init device /dev/mcelog (rc: -16)
and I ended in dracut emergency shell, from where Im not able to mount an usb device to save the rdsosreport.txt.
I will appreciate any suggestions how to mount the usb device and how the mcelog etc. problems are solved ?

Are you using USB 3.0? This is currently broken in preliminary R3.1

image... For now try USB2 (port, not only stick), or wait for the next
image (somehow next month).

I learned via trial and error to use the USB2.0 port but I am also getting the failure with \dev\mcelog.
Is that a function of the build then?
