Hello,
I've installed the (beta) protonmail bridge for Linux in my personal VM for use with Thunderbird. It actually worked for a while, but recently, it no longer would start up. I cannot even manually install and start the bridge.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had not done any other installs or changes that could be associated with the bridge not starting.
Part of my troubleshootin included going to the seperate directories and removing the installed items from the original install, and removing the directories that were created during the install, and then re-attempting a fresh install - No Joy.

Any help/recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Chip

Have you tried installing the bridge in a templateVM like debian9?
I have installed the bridge in both Qubes 3.2 and Qubes 4 in the template debian 9.
Then I created an app based on debian 9 called protonmail where I started the bridge and put all my credentials in and connected it to Thunderbird like described in their instructions.

Worked well for me ever since. Updates have to be installed in the templateVM as well. It shouldn't be anything different from other programmes or scripts like tasket's VPN which should als be installed in a templateVM.I haven't tried fedora but I guess it would work.

AHTON,
Thank you for sharing what worked for you. My bridge was installed into the personal VM (Fedora-26).
I understand what you are suggesting, and hope to try it out this weekend when I slow down again.

Regards ~

Hi,
How did you get the Linux version of the Bridge ... Seems not to be yet available ... Beta tester ?

They offer a Beta version for paid subscribers.... I requested via E-mail, and they responded with a link to the download and installation instructions.

Did you write to "bri...@protonmail.ch"?
I wrote to them at the end of february and I got an answer 5 days later. I didn't have much correspondence but I always got an answer. If you're a paid customer I'd try again.

I meant "paying customer". Paid would be nice! Haha

I cannot second that. They are responsive. Not super fast, but
competent and responsive.

I've received responses each time I e-mailed them, sometimes the same day, and a few times about 3 days later. They have always eventually responded.
