Wiindows HVM always runs in seamless mode despite settings

Prior to installing qubes-windows-tools I had a Windows 7 HVM running fine, it would open as a full desktop with no issues. After installing windows tools, it now always opens in seamless GUI mode, even though I have unclicked this setting in the settings for the VM in VM Manager.

It starts up and presents a full screen windows logon, but after I've typed password and hit enter, that screen goes away and Windows apps are only accessible through AppVM options from main KDE menu.

Is there a way to force full desktop mode so that it operates the way it did orignally, without windows tools?

I have tried toggling the Seamless option on and off, closing and restarting the HVM several times, without success. Always it is in seamless mode, every time, no matter what.

Just following up on this question.. is this the way it is meant to work with an HVM?

...seems to indicate that a Windows HVM should be able to be toggled between seamless mode or full screen (pre windows tools) mode:

"You can switch between seamless and “full desktop” mode for Windows HVMs in their settings in Qubes Manager."

But changing that setting doesn't seem to have any effect for me. Is this no longer possible? (I am using Qubes R2)

I cannot get the full desktop mode (with Windows start button in bottom left corner as normal) after installing windows tools. Am I doing something wrong?
