No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found during DVD install

I'm trying to install Qubes 3 on a new Dell Precision 7510. I've burned Qubes 3 to a DVD. The laptop doesn't have an internal DVD, so I'm using an external. It start running through the boot process, but eventually hangs at a screen that says, "No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! boot:"

Any suggestions?

Also, this is Qubes 3.0, legacy boot.

Do you have a usb flash drive that is the way most install it. Not that DVD should not work only that we know that the usb way does work and it then makes it easier to rule out certain things.

it doesn't fit on a single layer DVDs. use a larger flash drive.
