I downloaded a tool called "alien" which was able to convert the package into RPM format but then when I tried to install it using DNF in the SYS-NET cube, I received an error saying "firmware-atheros-20170823-2.noarch" conflicts with package linux-firmware-201771215-82.git2451bb.fc26.noarch.
I'm thinking perhaps I should uninstall this conflicting package in order to install the atheros one that I know worked under PureOS, but frankly, I'm a bit out of my depth at this point and wondering if this makes sense to you all or might have other advice. Appreciate any thoughts you may have to assist.
Warm Regards, Ringo
I believe in this case you should be contacting your vendor for
technical support - you certainly paid more than enough to deserve some.

"We are doing the best we can"
Wrong.
There are companies that are releasing real libre firmware computers,
brand new and fast, fully open source and owner controlled (but purism
doesn't want you to know that)

Thanks for the tip. That's a great workaround. Impressive aspect of Qubes is that is makes a solution like this so simply. Of course, now I need to learn more about how to setup different sys-net and stuff like that but it's great to have such flexibility in the OS. This is really powerful. Thanks!
Update1: Wow, what a great suggestion! I didn't even need to download anything. All I had to do was change the template from fedora to debian in the sys-net virtual machine settings and presto, it worked! I couldn't believe how simple this was. Thanks for the suggestion! BTW, appreciate the other comments regarding Purism, etc. I'm new to this space and was not aware what all to consider. I'll look around in other posts to try and do more research for best libre machine next time I'm in the market. Thanks for your help!

Whatever you think of Purism is really not suited that well on this list.
Where exactly? To some place maybe a "free speech zone" where no one will hear me or care?If you want to educate people, I'd like to suggest you take it elsewhere.
Private? what?either private
or some other public list or setup a wiki page or whatever. If everybody beats up their favorite horse on this list, this list will become a lot more noisy and less useful for everyone. For example I don't think using Thunderbird for reading email is a reasonable choice for users interested in reasonable security, but I wont mention that in every (not even any...) thread discussing thunderbird. Same can be said about many many topics.
