In the Qubes Update tool under 4.x,  is it possible to set a template to be ignored for update checking?

The reason for this is I like to keep the default installed "fedora-29" template unused and work off a clone  "fedora live" and in a worst case scenario I can use the "fedora-29" taplate to make new clones if that latter breaks or I want a template with out all the software I installed in "fedora live"

The problem with this, as I never update "fedora-29" it always has updates available

Disable the qubes-update-check service.
You can do this from qube manager or using qvm-service.
I disable that service everywhere.

Thank you unman.   I can see how to do this via qvm-service but looking at the qubes manager gui, I don't see the option.  Is there a particular tab it should be listed under?

The services tab doesn't show services which have the default settings,
which can be confusing.
Use the drop-down menu to select the service, use the "+" button to add
it to the bottom pane, and then deselect the check box. Click OK and
you're done.

You can set global settings from the System-GlobalSettings menu item,
and there is option to "Disable checking for updates for all qubes"
