I have my main monitor connected with a HDMI cable to the graphic card
but when I stick a VGA cable from a second monitor it won't do anything.
How do I get Qubes to detect the second monitor and how do I setup its
relative position like I do in windows ?

I am using 3 monitors at the moment with dual video cards and also on-board Video as well.

For qubes to work with multiple, open System Settings -> Display Configuration -> Use tyhe tick box to turn on the monitor, otherwise it remains inactive.

And there you have it, multiple monitors.

Unfortunately I don't see no thick box, I click on everything in Display Configuration but nothing will change. Any idea, maybe there is something I can do in command line ?

Hello, xrandr returns :

xranr : railed to get size of gamma for output default
screen 0: minimum 1920x1080; current 1920*1080, maximum 1920x1080
dafault connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 0mmx0mm
1920x1080     77.00*

The secondary monitor is still connected via the old VGA port.

That means the secondary monitor is still not switched on, or at least
'listening' some other input instead of the analog VGA...

If you connect an active display it would be straightforward to 'setup'
the dual screen - easier than on windows ;)

What do you mean by "active display" ?

I did some  tests :
1)I reboot with only the old VGA screen plugged in : the screen works fine
2)I then plug in the new HDMI screen and nothing happen, only the old VGA keeps broadcasting Qubes (and display configuration never changes, still no thick box or effect on me rotating the main rectangle or toggling the star)
3) I unplug/replug the old VGA screen and the image comes back fine
4)I reboot with only the new HDMI screen plugged in : screen works fine, still can't get dual screen with the old VGA screen
5) I unplug/replug the HDMI screen while Qubes is running and the screen stays black : I have to reboot to get the screen to broadcast Qubes again

Does that inform us of something ?

Did you check the bios setti gs as sometimes they have setting specifc to the way the gpu act. At least it will rule it out.

Yes I went through the entire bios trying to check something related
with the monitor but appart from UEFI resolution that require a full HD
screen I didn't find anything.

Unfortunately qubes-hcl-report <vm-name> won't create any file anywhere
(tried to find *.yml *.cpio.gz) so I copied the command output in the
attached file instead.

Thanks, dual screen is important for me.

ahh, yep - seems I have to make the model numbers 'filename safe'

But from your report I see that your problem caused by the nVidia VGA.
- - or at least it's drivers.

I can't help from this point - but then you can ask/search for user
having a working Qubes with nvidia VGA.

The display manager seems to assume that the mirror display option is toggled. I got mine to work by setting the mirrored display option then turning it off.
