Hello,

for me the lenovo x230 is the perfect laptop to run qubes as it has a core i7, SSD, 16GB RAM, working LTE-WWAN and can be "coreboot'ed" and using the external slice battery pack it has a great battery runtime (even when running Qubes).
The only problem I have is the low screen resolution from the stock display.

Some people have mod'ed their x230 adding a Full HD Display, as described here:

As this process involves some working I'd like to know if someone within the Qubes Community has tried this and how the success was when using the machine with Qubes.

Hello

I can't answer your question but I migth be interested in buying an x230 and you seem to know it quite well.

I have a G505S but battery life is bad and you said you had great battery life.
What is this external slice battery pack ? Can you point me to a seller on ebay or aliexpress ? And how much is great for you : more than 5 hours with normal/intense work is doable ?

With a x230 I would be concerned by the ME chip. I know it can be nerfed but not disabled completely. So what ? With my G505S I don't have this kind chip so my question is : being nerfed, what can/could the ME chip still do ?

Does the suspend/resume work reliably well with Qubes ? That's another thing I never managed to get working on my G505S.

I already had many thinkpads so I know the build quality is much better than my G505S. The best would be to get the G505S board into a thinkpad...
In example the power jack socket of my G505S got burned twice last year. Thinkpads work for years.

One more question, why did you choose the x230 over the x220 as it can have the same CPU from what I've seen and the keyboard is better on the x220. Maybe you have a x220 keyboard on your x230 ?

Thank you very much !

The Fhd-mod works for the x230, there is even a 13.3 inch version. It is
also possible to mod a x220 keyboard into an x230, i would suggest 230
for usb 3.0 and various other reasons:).

Also, its possible to install coreboot.
