Hello all I am new to qubes and love the concept.    I'm trying to get streaming video working on firefox without flash.   For example an archived video on the twit.tv website.

I had the same issue on midori with fedora 22,  but what I did was install gstreamer plugins.  Problem on qubes  I believe is I need the gstreamer1-libav or gstreamer1-ffmpeg packages and I cannot find them.

I'm not sure what to do.  Thank you for your help.

Rich.

Those are available from RPMFusion here:

http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/updates/21/x86_64/repoview/le
tter_g.group.html

Be sure to check for a good signature before installing.

You can also enable the repo either through Package Sources (GUI) or
via the command line.

well sorry to be a noob here, but I can't figure out how to install rpmfusion. I tried to follow the directions at http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration using the commandline from fedora template terminal and I got a message saying Examining /var/tmp/yum-root-JP9pJ6/rpmfusion-free-release-21.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package. Error: nothing to do.

I tried wget or curl from the website address and it says cannot resolve host. Same thing if i try to open up a firefox page.

When i tried to select everything for free and non free from package sources (except for testing) and then did a yum update it said timed out and could not retrieve mirrorlist.

I must be doing something wrong?

thanks again for the help.

Rich.

So I notice that fedora 21 template vm is denied network access in the vm settings. I'm hesitant to allow network settings and would appreciate any suggestions on the proper way to install rpm fusion.

cprise

Its already installed but inactive in Fedora 21. To activate, go to your
Fedora template menu and run Package Sources. You should see rpmfusion
sources listed there.

I did that, but when I do a yum update afterwards it fails, giving me an error about the rpmfusion repos and telling me to ignore them.

Today it worked. I tried again to add rpmfusion repos with package sources, and I was able to sudo yum update afterwards successfully. There was no need to enable network connection for the template. I'm glad I didn't lol. So maybe i needed to restart my pc or maybe there was some issue with the rpmfusion mirrors yesterday.

And i installed gstreamer1-libav and now i can watch videos with firefox. woot. Now to read more of qubes documentation. very exciting.
