i need your help and i would be happy if someone can help me. :)
So, I would like to describe my situation in detail.
My main operation system is Qubes 4.0 and on this i want try to install Windows 7 pro.
For the installation i want following this steps
1 Step: https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/hvm/
2 Step: https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/windows-vm/#qubes-40---windows-vm-installation
Is this the correct way to make it perfect?
I am not a millionaire but very interessted to technical things. So i want install on Windows some programs which i never bought before. You know? ;) The risk by this is maleware and i not want to risk my security.
Is it possible to install this software on Windows OS?
I hope its okay to ask this here.
About your feedbacks, i would be very happy.
regards
You will run into alot of trouble and figuring things out just to set the StandaloneVM up to a working state for running programs reliably. Use Qubes if you want to play around learning lots of things and well contributing to the development of Qubes Windows Tools through testing but if all you need is running programs, then just use Ubuntu and setup a VMware Workstation running Windows which is cosmically easier.
Reliable Windows on top of Qubes is still under development and even I thought it would be viable to have a flawlessly working Windows 7 on top of Qubes before, I was apparently wrong.
I wanna ask, were you able to do a PCI passthrough of your GPU in that Windows VM?
I've been able to get Windows 7 working in a standaloneVM HVM, no seamless mode. You'll come across issues along the way. There are some links and sources in this post that may assist you: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/qubes-users/RZaRJt4kbbA
