Hello,

After tracking down some issues with 3.1-rc3 and previous releases, I am now successfully running 3.1-RC3.

The following features are supported:
- Intel VT-x / HVM
- Intel VT-d / Directed I/O

The following features break HVM:
- Intel TXT

So there are 2 possibilities:
1. Use VT-d + Intel TXT, but unable to use HVM.
2. Use VT-d + VT-x without TXT support.

In order to use VT-d, which in my eyes is essential to using Qubes, you have to edit /etc/default/grub on the Dom0
and append GRUB_CMDLINUX_XEN_DEFAULT to contain iommu=no-igfx - Afterwards it is necessary to run:
grub2-mkconfig > /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

After that, reboot, hit F1 to enter the BIOS, enable Hardware Virtualization and VT-d - if you wish to use TXT, please
note that HVM support will most likely not work.
You can check this by:

xl dmesg|grep VMX

You should see "VMX Enabled" if your VM-x works.

Please report success and fails here.

You have no idea how useful this thread was. I'm new to Qubes and Xen and simple things like "xl dmesg" are not freely disseminated.

Thanks!

I've got an X201, but I can't get the graphics to work to install Qubes OS. Any ideas?
