GSoC 2026 - Interest in "Generalize the Qubes PDF Converter" project

Hi,

I'm Jayant Saxena, interested in the GSoC 2026 project "Generalize the Qubes PDF Converter to other file types."

To get familiar with the codebase, I've submitted a few contributions:

• qubes-app-linux-pdf-converter#38 — password-protected PDF support
• qubes-desktop-linux-common#73 — fix menu file leftover on VM remove
• qubes-core-admin-linux#208 — vmupdate: wait for full shutdown before next queued update

I'd love to connect with the mentors Andrew Clausen and Jean-Philippe Ouellet to discuss the project scope and get guidance before writing my proposal.

Is this the right place to ask questions, or is there a better channel?

It is definitely the right place :) Or, if you'd like more real time
communication, we have matrix channel at #qubes:invisiblethingslab.com.
But also, looks like proposed mentors list on our website is outdated... It
would be me and/or Ben instead.
