GSoC 2026 – Introduction and interest in Qubes File Converter improvements

Hi everyone,

My name is Jayant Saxena. I’m interested in contributing to Qubes OS for GSoC 2026, particularly the project about generalizing the Qubes file converter beyond PDFs.

I recently contributed a small fix to the qvm PDF converter and have been exploring the converter pipeline and DispVM workflow. I’m currently looking into the issue about supporting password-protected PDFs as a first step.

 I recently submitted PR #37 to qubes-app-linux-pdf-converter fixing the cancel behavior in the GUI dialog,  

I’ll start investigating the design and implementation and share progress soon.
