I know some were interested to improve the Quarkus + JS front end experience. There is an interesting Twitter thread on the general topic of JS front and other language backend.

Our data repo and regression tool (https://github.com/Hyperfoil/horreum) is a quarkus and node.js app. We use the https://github.com/eirslett/frontend-maven-plugin maven plugin to integrate the front end into our dev environment.

The setup required is to install front-end deps with npm `cd webapp && npm install && cd ..`

But after the front-end deps have been installed, `./mvnw compile quarkus:dev -Dui.dev`  starts dev mode for both front end and back end.  Any changes in the quarkus app or the node.js front-end are immediately visible.

packaging the application is easy too, `./mvnw clean package -Dui`
