How did ARC (the Injection child of WELD) get its name?

I am doing a bit of research for


and I was wondering how 'Arc' got its name.

Is is a similar root to the Directed Acyclic Graph in DAGger, or something else?

In fact a snipplet of history would be very welcome as fodder for the above talk.

I think Martin said somewhere that it's a reference to arc welding, but I'll let him confirm / add details.

Speaking of history - our goal was to design a "supersonic" build-time
DI but keep it compatible with CDI where possible. Unlike other similar
DI solutions we analyze the bytecode (using jandex) and produce the
metadata bytecode directly (using gizmo).

It could also be an acronym like

Automata Reified CDI

or

Ahead-of-time Rendered CDI

But any such thing would be an

Acronym Retroactively Completed
