Most of the factors sell LUK clutch kits – I got one for my Rickman (much older part) from Motor Parts Direct – that was over 4 years ago, but I wouldn’t expect a problem getting one, especially as you have the Ford part number. I think it was on the Total Kitcar website (it may have been in Complete Kitcar magazine?) that Burton Power also stock the ‘everyday’ bits for Fords, as well as the unusual/exotic. I’ve Found Burton to be first class – last week they delivered a head gasket set to me, which was very well package with 2 planks of wood to prevent damage during the journey – these were ideal for placing the cylinder head once I’d removed it 😊

Thanks Martin and Darren
I know it should be easy to find a clutch for a CVH engine. However, when I first got the car, I spent a lot to time trying to get the clutch bit point off the floor. I have the prototype 2+2 and it turns out it is different from production cars and was originally fitted with a customer made clutch cable.
Now that I have a working set up, I am struggling to find a supplier who can assure me they have a direct replacement ‘LOW LIFT’ part rather than a compatible substitute.
I tried the local Ford stealer yesterday. They had a few suggestions, but they were special order so I wouldn’t be able to return then if they were wrong.

Sorry forgot to say I will try Burton Power tomorrow.

55mm Granada Mk2 / Escort Mk3 (81-86)
Hi Chris,
I was going to suggest the clutch release can be improved, as Dave has said it won’t help the judder. There is a manual pedal which replaced the automatic adjustment (same as Fiesta) previously used on the Escort – I don’t know if Ford also carried it onto the Fiesta, but there was clearly a problem with the Escort. Anyway, the pedal is a direct replacement for the one on the Fiesta, and can be used with the 55mm quadrant you may already have, although the quadrant has to be modified. It has a manual adjustment, so not relying on the unreliable? Ratchet. I have the parts and will have a go at fitting them on my saloon, as the clutch cable movement sometimes works ok but clearly isn’t always holding the correct length.

Hi Chris,
Did you have success with finding a clutch kit?

Following Jim Hearne’s advice, I decided to fit a new standard clutch I bought 4 years ago. The bite point is a bit lower, so I bought a manual adjust clutch pedal from Burton Power, but now that I have driven it more I have found it driveable so not rushing to fit it.
I’m also pleased to report the judder on moving off has gone.
Thanks all for your advice
