Reading through various post's I note chassis no. should end with a 'Q' followed by 4 numbers which gives kit no.
On checking my car stamped into bulkhead no. ends in J 2055, car is not registered as a 'Q' plate if that has any bearing.
Can anyone confirm if I have car 55 on the above basis, the total chassis no. has 17 digits.

Thanks
Calum

The 2+2 chassis number would normally be Q2-xxx, mine is Q2-099
I suspect as Paul says, the local DVLA office wouldn’t accept a number this short (mine did accept Q2-099) and the advice was to just stick random letters and numbers on the front to make up a longer number.
Dates of birth or kit purchase date often got put in.

But i’d think the last 2055 means it’s chassis number 55.

Does that confirm a fairly early model then Jim , as you suspected with my suspension woes ?

Does nobody have a register of numbers giving dates of build or at least date kit was issued etc ?

Thanks for prompt reply.

Calum.

Yes, fairly early, the 55th 2+2 made.
Certainly going to have the same high rear suspension mounting as mine.

I suspect any list has got lost in the various sales of Quantum.
Eddie Ruskin might be able to say if there was such a list when he owned Quantum.

But i did hear that when original Quantum sold the company that most of the records went in the skip instead of being passed on, don’t know if it was true though.

I think the club has list of how many of each model were sold, i think the 2+2 was up around 400

Hi Jim
Most of the details were passed onto John Sampson.
I did have all the records when I had Quantum, but passed them back to John when I gave Q back to him.
I can confirm that John still has all the records and they are safe.
I would also like to say that John does take the DPA seriously and those details, are safe in his care.

You could try looking inside the door!
My Q (saloon) had the chassis number in the form of Q4 - 215 written on the
inside of the door moulding :-)

I'm not sure if the older cars have them, but as Martin has mentioned QSC used to insert slips of paper containing chassis number, laminator and date onto the resin so they would be visible from the inside. Useful for QC and security.

Steve
