Hi all

Long time, no see!

For those who have long memories, I was trying to clear some space by offloading one of my project saloons last Summer.  Unfortunately I got strung along by a timewaster so it's still here.

And now a sudden change in circumstances (winning a campervan in a raffle!) means I need it gone ASAP.  Time is more important than cash - saloons don't fetch much, anyway, so any offer accepted.  Camper is arriving next week!

This saloon was originally built using 1.6 XR2 spec, but subsequently downgraded to 1.4 CVH.  It's properly registered as a 1.4 Quantum with correct numbers etc.

This is most definitely a project car.

Jobs required:
- Paint/polish.  When I got it, the car was painted in metallic blue, and peeling badly.  So I started to sand it back to gelcoat with the intention of polishing it back as gelcoat.  Then my compressor packed up when I was half-way through so it never got finished.
It needs a lot of sanding/polishing to complete the job as I was doing it.
Or paint/wrap as you wish.
Fortunately, it was originally a gelcoat car so it's all Oxford Blue under the paint.

- Original Quantum sunroof was leaking badly.  I've replaced it with a Freelander sunroof, and made a fibreglass infill.  Drain tubes exit into the door close gaps on each side and work well through silicon tubes.
It does need another layer of fibreglass for reinforcement, an easy 1/2 hour job.
I'll do it if you want.
It also needs an interior sunroof handle - I have a Freelander one, but it doesn't seem to fit.
Like the Quantum original, the sunroof does encroach on interior headroom.
At a somewhat tubby 5'11" I can manage it, but it's close.

- Door cards - I think the originals are there, but in poor condition.
I was going to get some MG-F ones (they need a small infill piece at the rear end, but otherwise can be cut down to give a pretty good fit).

- Side and rear windows need re-bonding.  Common problem with saloons.

- Small repair needed to boot lid - looks like it backed (gently) into a post.

- I've fitted electric window motors and electrics, but the runners need final positioning and fastening down (couple of bolts at the bottom).
- Ditto central locking with remote  boot release.

- 1 new tyre needed for sure, another has a slow leak that takes a few weeks to go flat.
I've got a donor wheel on it at the moment so I can push it around.  All 4 13" diamond-pattern alloys are included and are in pretty decent condition (they're probably worth something on their own).

- Petrol - it ran out  when I was manoeuvering it around last year,  never got round to filling it back up, especially at these prices!
It does start on aerostart so ignition etc. is fine.

- Battery

Nothing expensive, it needs lots of time spending on it, not money.

If interested, please let me know.
I'll give it a clean-up and post fresh pictures tomorrow, but not much has changed since last year.   I just want it to go to a good home.

As an aside, I have a mate who has a 1.6 XR2 CVH engine after he did the same swap to a 1.4 CVH.  So if you want to restore the car to XR2 engine spec, I can put you in touch.

Tony Vincent.
