First dibs on seminar places for subscribers
View this email in your browser
It's been a busy few weeks putting together the Stoneleigh issue, not least because it comes with a free 32-page guide to the show.

There's plenty going on at the show, so I wanted to draw your attention to our free-to-attend seminars for 2017's show. Places are reserved on a first come, first served basis, so if you want a place please drop me an email (ad...@performancepublishing.co.uk) letting me know which seminar (or seminars!) you want to attend, and I'll get you on the list.

The topics are...

11am both days
DIY vinyl wrapping with Rich Sawtell
Rich will explain how you can vinyl wrap your car at home. He does it as his day job with Williams, and wrapped his own MK Indy, which we recently featured. Learn a new skill today!

2pm both days
Rust prevention and treatment with John Dickens
CKC's technical editor will tell you how to de-corrode donor components and prevent the rust coming back. Find out how to easily make your car look much better.

We're also sponsoring the Sunday night entertainment again, so if you're camping come along to the Warwick Hall from 7pm where we'll have live music. It marks 10 years of CKC, too, so it's a double celebration!

On the topic of events in May, the CKC/Omex track day at Llandow is now fully booked, but we're still accepting additions to the reserve list in case of any cancellations. There's still plenty of space for the Blyton Park track day on Sunday 10 September, which you can book here. You save £20 as a subscriber, which effectively makes your sub almost half price.

Don't forget our open day here at the CKC office in Grantham on Saturday 15 April. They reckon the UK will be hotter than Spain on Easter weekend, which sounds like excuse enough to me! If you need any more reason to attend, free cake should do it...

One last thing. Following demand to do so, we're bringing back our classified adverts from the May issue. As an introductory offer we're giving free adverts to subscribers. When your mag arrives, see the address cover sheet for details. TTFN, Adam.

After last years very disappointing turn out of Quantums, ie low numbers.
Can anyone here encourage me to attend.
I love Quantums and really enjoy looking at the cars on our stand as well as meeting up with all the owners, but last year was painful to see. Low number of cars and a practically empty club tent.
I want to see a vibrant, energetic stand full of owners, so do I take the chance of attendance this year or not?
More to the point, are you going? Yes, you, reading this, please advise.

Hello everyone

I recently purchased "Kevin", the V8 Xtreme (built originally by Chris Fairlie) from Chris Young and hope to be there on the Sunday.  He's not 100% at the moment due to an ECU problem but is driveable.

I look forward to meeting some of the group.

There are possibly a number of QOC members who don't know what Stoneleigh
is and how much the QOC put into the show for members. In the new QM which
is due soon there is an article to hopefully rectify this and encourage
more members to attend. Stoneleigh is, along with QM costs, where the club
currently spends a significant percentage of our annual budget. It would be
great to see the show well supported and I look forward to meeting some new
faces.

Hi all,
Since last year my Quantum won a prize in best overseas Quantum, it will be joining you this year in the catagory 'best last minutes overseas Quantum".
It sits in the garage with no wheels, due to the wheels being refurbished. The process has been delayed somewhat, but hopefully everthing will be ready by then.
We will travel all the way in company of a Midas convertible and a coupe.
The idea is to may be catch up on the Saturday, go to Blyton's mini actionday on Sunday, travel back to Stoneleigh, probably missing the bbq (may be there's a bit left?) , but in time for the pubquiz!
Is it still on? Or is there more serious talking in the evening? It will be a jam packed weekend, now there's only one whole day at the show.

Looking forward meeting you all, especially the electric 2+2, (will you be there Anthony on Sunday evening and or Monday?)

Maybe concentrating on the positives could encourage more members to attend.
Enjoy the company of fellow Quantum owners and see their cars. There is the
excellent QOC Catering and the AGM to attend and participate in.
Aside from quantums there are many new cars to see including a new one from
Lee Noble! As in my earlier note there are KIT CAR SEMINARS provided free by
Complete Kit Car (register due to limited spaces).
And......... Hopefully some good weather, as last year's weather forecast
unfortunately kept some away.
Martin
ps I'll be there with the Quantumsleep Caravan (I hope that's viewed as a
positive :-) )

Hi Edd

I aim to be there, as usual, on the Sunday in my round headlight 2+2.
Although it's good to see lots of Quantums on the club stand, for me, the show itself is the reason to go to Stoneleigh.
It's the biggest kit car show in the country which makes it the industry show-piece. Anything new will be there - sometimes unfinished but I can live with that. It's also a good time to pick up some bits and pieces that are harder to find for older cars (whether I need them or not).
So, for encouragement, go to the show to see the show. See if my old Vincent Hurricane (the only light metallic blue one) is there again, I built that in 1987 and it's second owners still brings it along. Additionally, if you don't go, you won't know if the club stand was busy or not, Sunday is usually the best day.

Anthony.

I really hope you get the electric Quantum there. I spent a couple of years working for Amberjac Projects designing batteries for electric vehicles (mostly airport buses but Lotus and Nissan Infiniti were also customers).

Hi Dave
Good to hear you are attending, especially as the round headlight 2+2 is a very rare car.
Enjoy the event.
I might be there, but as yet still undecided.
However, I am very pleased to say that I now have a 2+2 as a company car :-)
Its not drivable for me yet as I have to get it converted for one handed driving. As soon as it is, Rob and I are going to town on the bodywork to create a one off that can represent the company. Watch this space as they say.

Hi Mark

I have had a look at that idea and concluded its an involved project body / chassis wise. Not impossible by a long way, but time consuming however.
I would love to do it.

There was a six wheel Lotus designed to circumvent regulations on tyres for race cars I believe and at least one 6 wheel kit car estate designed to cope with heavy loads and a similar six wheel conversion of possibly a Citroen to facilitate the delivery of European editions of the ' Financial Times '

Why a 6 wheel Quantum - does our editor plan to use a Scottish printer?

Its because of a photo shop picture that was at Stoneligh a couple of years ago. It showed a 6wheel Quantum Coupe converted into a pick up.
Total waste of time, but none the less a good fun challenge to pull off.
