6LACK's 'Pretty Little Fears,' featuring J. Cole, is a poignant exploration of intimacy, vulnerability, and the complexities of romantic relationships. The song delves into the dynamics of sharing one's true self with a partner, addressing the fears and uncertainties that come with such openness. 6LACK's smooth, contemplative delivery sets the tone for a conversation that is both personal and relatable, inviting listeners into a space of emotional honesty.

The lyrics of 'Pretty Little Fears' oscillate between 6LACK's musings and J. Cole's introspective verse, creating a dialogue about the importance of transparency in love. 6LACK's verses touch on the desire to know his partner beyond the surface level, urging her not to 'sugar coat' her feelings and to share her 'pretty little fears,' which he considers 'music to [his] ears.' This metaphor suggests that he finds her worries and doubts not only acceptable but beautiful in their authenticity. The song's chorus reinforces this sentiment, emphasizing the need for genuine communication.

J. Cole's contribution to the track adds depth, as he reflects on the support and growth that can come from a loving relationship. He speaks to the empowerment found in mutual understanding and the shared journey of overcoming life's challenges. Cole's verse also touches on themes of racial identity and the societal pressures faced by black women, acknowledging the strength and beauty in his partner's struggle. The song, as a whole, is a celebration of the strength found in vulnerability and the transformative power of love when partners are willing to share their true selves with each other.

Keeping a steady output of singles and videos, 6LACK is working hard to stay on our playlists. He released his video for "East Atlanta Love Letter" with rapper Future back in September and now it's J. Cole's turn. The Dreamville rapper joined forces with 6LACK on his track "Pretty Little Fears," which follows the gloomy tone of his album. The matching video directed by Matthew Dillon Cohen shows us how 6LACK and J. Cole navigate relationships with their significant others.

Tackling vulnerability and insecurities, each one approaches their relationship struggles in their own way. "Now I just wanna know, don't you sugarcoat / I'll say it all if you won't / Now could you tell me like it is, pretty little fears / Music to my ears," 6LACK sings on the chorus. After taking his girl on a joy ride, to a high school gym and to the beach, he later meets up with Cole in an RV park. Cole gets his own shine in the video when he talks about his girl improving his life. He shares peaceful moments with bae in a grassy field and at an abandoned carnival.

The video is chock full of longing stares, electric chemistry and beautiful shots of the two artists spending time with their respective loves. 6LACK plans to spread his love on his From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which kicked off in Cape Town, South Africa and wraps in his hometown of Atlanta December 21st. Find your city and grab your tickets on his website and if you haven't already, purchase East Atlanta Love Letter now on your favorite digital retailer.

I first heard this track about 2weeks ago and haven't been able to get it off my head ever since. I wasn't sure what to think when I saw J.Cole as a feature on this one but I was won over once I heard his verse.
What I love most about the song are it's lyrics, the way the artists sing about their women, not about sex, money and other topic that has become typical of this era but in an appreciative respectful manner. In the kind of way we would talk about our daughters and mothers.

[Verse 1: 6LACK]
Do better, who better?
You better? Been around, like hella, propellers
Wanna know who you with, don't tell 'em
Come on fellas, that ain't none of your biz'
Got on your body suit, you know I'm on your ass today
Would you let me hit it thrice if I asked today?
She know my stick nothing but magic babe
I be swinging it back and forth, 'til you in your casket, bae, mm

[Chorus: 6LACK]
Now I just wanna know
Don't you sugarcoat
I'll say it all if you won't
Now could you tell me like it is?
Pretty little fears
Music to my ears
Now I just wanna know
Don't you sugarcoat
I'll say it all if you won't
Now could you tell me like it is?
Pretty little fears
Music to my ears
