Dear QualityFirst Members,

Here's wishing you a Happy New Year 2010. May we all have a peaceful
and prosperous year. May our contribution to this peace and
prosperity increases as much as we want to benefit from it.

2009 was a mixed year for your group. Good - ASQ India was formally
announced by ASQ in Delhi. Not so Good - Not much after the
announcement! I am told this is changing soon and we will have India
centric events and programs from ASQ.

As always, QualityFirst encourages you to contribute and benefit from
our community. If many of us have a complaint that not much is
happening, may we respond that, please pick up the torch yourself and
brighten up the world. We will support actively, that is our
assurance.

In mid 2006 when ASQ India was not even on anyone's radar a few of us
decided we can't wait forever and should make things happen. Slowly
the mountain moved. We are now looking for the next set of mountain
movers. Do write to us with your ideas.

On our part our resolve for this year includes:

More frequent Newsletter
More frequent updates on Blog and ASQGroups forums
Improve membership
City meetings (1 every quarter)

This will not be possible without your consistent support. Looking
forward to growing the community further.

With best wishes for a prosperous new year,

QualityFirst Core Team
(Anil, Anshuman, Govind, and Noel)

Dear Quality First Members

Just when we were expecting some major revolution to be unwound through the Copenhagen Summit, it goes down the drain !  But never mind, now that the shock of the failure is behind us, environmental headlines are creeping back in. Perhaps the environmental train can be back on track.

Instead of looking behind, we would like to look forward and be hopeful for a greener world, greener footsteps and greener efforts. Here are 5 Green Wishes for 2010:

1 - Sustainability becomes the new buzz word and over takes global warming and climate change. After all, it is the umbrella under which all environmental efforts rest.

2 - Zero Waste becomes the new goal of families and businesses, beyond recycling. (and if you aren't recycling yet, you are so back in the 20th century, so get on with it)

3 - Eat local and grow local take off as urban and suburbanites grow their own food, or at least support and buy local. What a great way to learn to appreciate nature.

4 - Renewable Energy explodes and takes hold as the only long term, sustainable (there's that word again...sustainable) solution for humans.

5 - Corporate Responsibility becomes a status goal from the car industry setting us free to fair labor practices all along the supply chain.

Okay, so it's a green wish list. Here's to green wishing for 2010.

Happy Green New Year. !!!!

Best Regard

It will be wiser to call this endeavour as a 3-G  wish 'Grow Green Globe'

Must include "Lean" to make them Seven:

1. reduce consumption to zero wastes and practice austerity
2. Eat less- remain fit.  ( Self Sustainability).
3. Applying Lean through Technology and synergising with 'Green energising"

let's have the 7th one.

Dear Quality First Members

It is with great pleasure that I tell you that ASQ India will FINALLY be
realized early in the new year. After an agonizing period during 2009,
it finally became clear to us that it would be beneficial for ASQ to
establish itself as a sole entity rather than engage in a Joint Venture
with FICCI. The JV would have caused some tax issues for FICCI that may
have jeopardized their not-for-profit status, thus making a JV
undesirable. So, we have initiated the process of establishing an ASQ
Global branch office in New Delhi. All of the legal work should be
completed in about four weeks. In the meantime we are working to (1)
find appropriate office space in New Delhi; (2) hiring a start-up staff;
and, (3) creating our strategic plan.

I am very pleased to tell you that Mr. Amit Chatterjee has accepted our
position as General Manager of ASQ India. His tenure began on January
1, 2010. We are excited to have Amit join us as he has been our main
contact in India since 2005 and has the passion for quality that defines
ASQ. He is busily interviewing potential staff members and working with
ASQ Global to plan the next three years.

We will provide all of our Indian members with much more detailed
information once we have completed all of the legal steps to become a
legitimate entity in India. We look forward eagerly to working with all
of you to help spread the work of quality throughout the country.
Should you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to
contact me. I will be in India February 14-22 and may have the
opportunity to see some of you at that time. I will be addressing the
QCI Quality Conclave on February 20, so if any of you will be attending
that conference, please take a moment to say hello.

Best wishes to all for a happy and prosperous New Year, one filled with
Quality!
