На молитовних зборах Друг Джон поділився свідченням, що діти у Газі хворі від геноциду; ми підтримуємо у світлі його та всіх учасників мирної гуманітарної флотилії, двоє з яких затримані та зазнали жорстокого поводження з боку ізраїльських військових. Друзі свідчили про злочинні балістичні атаки, які вбивають і травмують цивільних людей, та свавілля військової мобілізації. У тихій молитві ми питали, що пацифісти можуть запропонувати, аби зупинити російську агресію. Крім того, ми читали уривок із Свортморської лекції Стюарта Мастерса, присвяченої спадщині ранніх квакерів та баченню нового творіння — світу миру, справедливості та благополуччя — малими діючими моделями якого можуть бути релігійні громади Друзів, наче крихітне гірчичне зерно, що колись виросте у могутнє дерево.

During the meeting for worship, Friend John shared a testimony that the children in Gaza are suffering from the effects of genocide; we hold him in the light, along with all participants of the peaceful humanitarian flotilla, two of whom have been detained and subjected to ill-treatment by the Israeli military. Friends brought witness to the criminal ballistic attacks that kill and injure civilians, and the lawlessness of military mobilization. In silent prayer, we asked what pacifists could offer to stop the Russian aggression. We had read an excerpt from Stuart Masters’ Swarthmore Lecture, dedicated to the legacy of early Quakers and the vision of a new creation — a world of peace, justice, and well-being — of which religious communities of Friends can be small working models, like a tiny mustard seed that will one day grow into a mighty tree.
