Мирна неділя

Славимо Ісуса Христа, князя Миру (Ісая 9:6), цієї мирної неділі, як закликав Папа Лев: заради беззбройного миру, який роззброює. З такої нагоди я переклав українською гімн "О мирний день у тихім сяйві" Карла Доу (O Day of Peace That Dimly Shines).

О мирний день у тихім сяйві
Усіх надій, молитв і мрій,
Веди нас до любові й правди,
Щоб не згубив нас егоїзм.

Хай вронить меч рука жорстока.
Хай серце звільниться від гніву.
Хай прийде благодать Христова,
Щоб замість війн був мир щасливий.

І будуть друзі вовк, ягня,
І сильні не зжеруть слабких;
Їх поведе мале дитя -
Спокійну паству звірини.

Любов зупинить ворогів,
І все живе прийде до згоди.
Надія здійсниться на мир,
Врятує Землю сам Господь.

Peace Sunday

Praising Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), this Peace Sunday, as called Pope Leo: for unarmed and disarming peace. For this occasion, I translated in Ukrainian and visualized in English the hymn "O Day of Peace That Dimly Shines" by Carl P. Daw.

O day of peace that dimly shines
Through all our hopes and prayers and dreams,
Guide us to justice, truth, and love,
Delivered from our selfish schemes.

May swords of hate fall from our hands,
Our hearts from envy find release,
Till by God's grace our warring world
Shall see Christ's promised reign of peace.

Then shall the wolf dwell with the lamb,
Nor shall the fierce devour the small;
As beasts and cattle calmly graze
A little child shall lead them all.

Then enemies shall learn to love,
All creatures find their true accord;
The hope of peace shall be fulfilled,
For all the earth shall know the Lord.
