Bought the router for this AAA game (Battlefield 2042) and to my surprise there's no Battelfield server option in the Ping Heatmap. There's a Frostbite engine section (which the game is built on) in Geo-Filter.
So after some testing using my ISP's modem/router combo with R3 disconnected I connect to the Paris servers around 50% of the time, however with the R3 connected I very rarely hit those servers, it seems to connect me to the servers in Germany. Now I'm located in Spain so the connection has to go through france so it's left me baffled. I understand my ISP has an impact on routing but it does feel the R3 is affecting this somehow not to mention my ping is increasing around 10 to 15ms (even with steady ping dissabled).
When I view the servers in geo filter 2042 (for europe) all the servers are located in 1 location stacked onto eachother. To me that indicates the servers are mislocated by netduma. I am using a xr 500. It would be much appreciated if you could separate the European server ID's to their geo respective locations on the geo filter map.
Ps5 EU is the only place to play crossplay off battlefield 2042 in the entire world but when I get connected to Germany the connection is sub optmilal compared to what I assume are the French and United Kingdom servers.
I looked up the IP's of the servers and it turns out even the lower ping servers I thought were perhaps in France are actually in germany as well. They are of the same provider though, at least according to iplookup. Just kind of strange that some of those servers give me a better experience even though they are supposedly all located in the same country/city and on the same network and ip range.
Are there no more French servers for BF 2042? I think the OP said he was sometimes connecting to them, I cannot find them on Geo-Filter though, So maybe 2042 GEo Filter servers do just need a Refresh from Netduma teams end.
This is the IDs i get a good connection to.

I can confirm that there were servers in France (Paris) at one stage which was confirmed by DICE the developers of 2042 however as of late I have also been connecting to German servers, however they do have Mains in UK, Madrid and Sweden however they only link you to the game servers.
This problem started with Battlefield V about two months ago (after working fine on both PS4 and PS5 since 2018), and then the same problem occured on the BF 2042 Beta, and now for the full Gold edition of BF 2042. Also, BF 1 doesn't work for me anymore (can't play online).
I was able to connect to the EA servers and access/play Battlefield 2042 when I connected my PS5 to internet through a Hotspot on my mobile phone instead of using a cable from my router. I think it's kinda strange that it worked, because the internet speed is much faster with the fiber cable.
Anyways, I'm happy I made some progress and that I was able to test the new Battlefield 2042. I will investigate further on how to make it possible to use my normal connetion to play these Battlefield games.
I get battlefield 4 off game pass but it says it can't connect or it lost connection to ea servers. I got it on the Xbox series s and I've tried reinstalling along with some other tips I got like clearing the Mac address but nothing worked.
Recently, I discovered that one can join a completely empty game and mess around on the maps. I tried to toy around with the idea of joining empty matches in order to boost some requirements in order to unlock the DLC guns. Because I was by myself on the map (I played conquest, which required at least 3 players on each team), I couldn't register any boats destroyed with the AT Rocket gun. Now I don't know if it's because the boats need to be occupied in order for those to count, or if the fact that I wasn't officially in a game - since I needed 5 more players to start it. But then I was wondering if it's possible to boost some of the gun-related trophies in these empty servers? Anyone tried this?
This week is rough for me between work and Horizon lol I'll try to set up a boosting session sometime next week. Also, since conquest required 3 on each side, I wouldn't be surprised we would need 6-8 players to boost.
My boosting partner and I just got into partially full Conquest games and met at a secluded part of the bigger maps to boost these things. Join as a group and then one of you switch teams. The ones that require you to cap points unfortunately are a little harder to do this way but it still works.
Also, every single Battlefield game has also required that another player been in a vehicle or just got out of it for the points to count. So no, you can't just go destroy vehicles just about the map.
There should be a filter to show ranked games and exclude others. I know that with the other battlefield games if you changed things a bit too much it would restrict it to unranked. I guess you would only know this by renting a server though.
The community is active. What is the point of boosting an active game? These trophies are doable, they just take some time. I am almost done with the dlc assignments and then I am 100% until the next dlc comes out.
Yes. In fact, I re-installed 2142 today and was plesantly surpised to find a large number of server still up and running. You will have to download the latest patch, 1.50, which is over 500MB and may take a while to download. There is a 1.51 Beta but not sure how many server support it.
Dec 2011 - now that Battefield 3 has been released there are only around 20-30 servers online with varying numbers of players. It's best to find one server and stay on that one, then you get to know the "regulars" and it's quite enjoyable with a good squad.
There is not nearly as many as there used to be, and the number seems to drop each week. However, it is worth installing and upgrading to 1.50 as there are still are several decent ones. One nice side effect is you get to see a lot of the same players.
first of all, my eternal gratitude for this community & making it possible to play Battlefield Bad Company 2 after the shutdown of the original servers. The trips down memory lane have so far been a pleasant surprise, seeing how well aged BF:BC2 is over more then a decade. So much nostalgic bliss. Thank you!
im not sure because i havnt tried it but i think this is what you are looking for
How to play BFBC2 with offline bots - Mod by Napisal (youtube.com)
You may also have a look at Napisals youtube for more info, these are from his work Napisal Mod Channel - YouTube but sadly he has not continued his work for a long time and many of the links in his videos are no longer available.
hope thats what you were looking for
hi again @B0mbV0yage2.0 ,
yes its quiet the little secret as to how the bot server got their hands on it at all, or quite what it is, most assumed Napisal never finished it. Worth having a look through the chat on the VU discord and more specifically another discord called BattlefieldModding ; where theres a few resources and plenty of people that may be able to help.
Update: DICE temporarily disabled XP in custom Battlefield Portal servers before the weekend, so the XP farms have mostly disappeared for now. (I did see one still going, even though no one's getting any XP from it.)
It's frustrating to see a potentially cool custom server tool dominated by bot matches designed for grinding XP, but while investigating the issue, I discovered that a beautiful thing is happening: Players are joining XP farming servers hoping to rack up attachment unlocks, but are instead discovering that they're the XP being farmed.
XP farming servers are often set up with a small human team fighting a big team of bots who are cursed to spawn with a sliver of health each. To give you a sense of what that looks like, below is a gif of me spawn camping bots at the end of a PvE Rush match. It's a sad sight, but these AI dudes are at least armed. In most XP farming servers, the bot team isn't even allowed to have guns.
After that PvE massacre, I started joining servers explicitly labeled as 'XP farming' servers to try to find out just how much XP players are actually getting from this. DICE tweeted earlier that it "deployed a change to Battlefield Portal that impacts the effectiveness of XP Farming Servers," so presumably it's not a lot. I'm not sure yet, though, because I'm always the one being farmed.
Most of these farming servers are set up so that players can keep joining even after the small team intended for humans is full. That puts most players on the big bot team: weaponless fodder for the XP farmers, who I'm sure are delighted to have human targets join the AI horde.
What's really funny is that not everyone leaves after discovering that only a handful of players in the server are XP farming and they aren't one of them. I've stuck around and watched players desperately run at their tormentors with knives over and over. Somewhere along the line, a rumor must've started that typing "/switch" or "/swapteam" into chat puts you on the other team, because there's a lot of that. It does not work. I've also seen strings of players type "/gun," apparently hoping that the command will give them a gun. It does not.
