Tim Carroll wins ADK 540

Tim Carroll, QuadZilla 2007, won the RAAM qualifier ADK 540 this past weekend. Tim writes:

 

Hey Mark,

 

I won the ADK540, go figure!  It was not an aesthetically pleasing

win, but a win nonetheless and under some conditions that we a little

more difficult than usual.  By the end, I was content to stay ahead of

the other guy by any margin and I am sure that he was content just to

finish the thing.  I had support all the way through and leaned on it

pretty hard when the temps got into the 20's.  So, finally, I got next

to that goal of qualifying for RAAM!  Won't that be fun to do some day?

 

I talked up QZ at the pre-race meeting and left your cards at the

table.  David Lafferty of MA, a super-strong fixed rider seemed very

interested.  I mentioned Tien and so his interested was even more

piqued. 

 

I have a few days at home to recover.  The "diet", as it was, is out

the window!

IMHO, anybody who even completes QuadZilla, is well prepared for other challenges ... so it's no surprise to me that Tim aced the ADK under difficult conditions.  I always advise riders hoping to take on a 1200k, to plan on an ultra-event like QuadZilla in addition to their basic qualifiers.
