QuadStor Configuration:
quadstor-vtl-ext-3.0.76.1-rhel.x86_64
CentOS-7

VTL Type: StorageTek L700 Library
VCartridge Count 30
Deduplication   Disabled
Replication        Disabled
Drive Type: StorageTek T9840B
VCart Type:  T9840B 20GB

Our first write to a virtual cartridge tape, presented by the QuadStor, works fine.  We are able to read back the content of the volume from the tape.  However, even though each cartridge is 20GB, and we have only written less than 200KB, we are unable to write a second volume to the same cartridge.

We are seeing an indication of End of Tape on the logs on our host.

The problem could be on "our" side; i.e., the host software attempting to write to the same cartridge could be misinterpreting the status as a full cartridge.  However, we do successfully write to a second cartridge where the data is readable.

We are attempting to debug the SCSI commands using QuadStor logs, but we are hampered by the fact that QuadStor apparently will not include SCSI reads or writes on their logs.

Our configuration will be unusable unless we are able to stack volumes on individual cartridges.

Hi,

You can try CmdDebug=2 instead of CmdDebug=1 in /quadstorvtl/etc/quadstor.conf
Also please add DebugTapePosition=1 which should help track the position on tape.

Please run the following command for the changes to take effect

/quadstorvtl/bin/vtconfig --reload
