Hi, I am experimenting with the Storage Virtualization product on Centos 6.9 to provide (in experimental mode) a datastore via FC to an ESXi6 hypervisor.
The set configuration is as follows.
• IBM XIV node, 2 x 12 threads, 48 Gb ram, 12 x 2 Tb SAS HDD
• OS Centos 6.9
• Qlogic QLE2562 2 x 8Gb FC Controller
• Quadstor Storage Virtualization (last)
On the ESXi6 hypervisor side the following configuration
• IBM x3650 M4, 2 x 16 threads, 112 Gb RAM, 8 x 600 Gb HDD
• Qlogic QLE2562 2 x 8Gb FC Controller
On the node where Quadstor is installed, a 5 Tb vDisk configured for datastore mode (512 byte Emulation) and Enable Verify is created.
Everything is connected perfectly, the hypervisor detects (rules through) the datastore in the Quadstor SAN, so far everything is fine.
The issue is the extremely slow transfer rate, when you want to copy a VM to or from the Quadstor datastore the rate is 19 / 25 Mg p/sec maximum.
Could it be the Qlogic drives in Centos? Any configuration detail that I didn't take into account?
For the purposes of analysis I leave the extraction of the dump file in System in the product interface.
I would appreciate any guidance on this matter, thank you very much!

Hi,

Please try the following

b. Update the firmware on the cards https://docs.oracle.com/en/networking/storage/host-bus-adapters/universal-host-bus-adapters/install-guide/z40036871045586.html The current version 6.06.03 does not seem to the latest. The system does not have a 8GB card but QLogic QLE8362 - 7101674, Sun Storage 16Gb FC PCIe Universal HBA, maybe you meant to send the diagnostics logs from a different system ?
c. Try with iSCSI to see if the issue is a FC issue.

For VMs its recommended to set create a pool with Dedupe "Lite" instead of "Enabled". Due to the ever changing data within a vm, the LIte will give good performance but at the same time deduplicating easy to find duplicates such as zeroed data etc.
