Hi
I've bee doing several test on quadstor vtl, and had nice perf (close to 100MB/s sometimes)
decided to switch to disk backup using quadstor storage, and perf are very low on same hardware (only a couple of MB/s)

using HP servers
DL380 g6 / smart array p410
DL380 g8 / smart P420 or P822

sata drives (12x 4TB 5900rpm or 22x 1TB 7200rpm) raid 5 or 6

all accesses or done through 4Gb/s FC

once switches to quadstor storage, i can see on the quadstor system in iostat that disk at 100% almost all the time, with between 500KB and sometime up to 7-8MB transfer (but more rare)

could it be something related with block size the storage is writing, compared to VTL to make the RAID controler saturating or something likt that?

Please send the diagnostics file.

Also a btrace output
btrace -w 120 <device> > /tmp/btrace.out

Where <device> will be the device path of the RAID device configured
in the storage pool. If there are multiple devices please run btrace
against all devices configured in the pool. Also btrace needs to be
run during the backup when its slow.

I don't have btrace on my centos 7 server, what should I install?
is blktrace doing the same thing?

btrace is installed by the blktrace package. Its a script which runs
blktrace and passes the output to blkparse.

yum install -y blktrace

Then btrace should be in /bin/ and in /usr/bin
