Hey my name is Kasey Christensen and I am from Waterford Wisconsin. I'm a C4 quad. I was in the Navy serving on a destroyer at Pearl Harbor. I took leave to do some island hopping with my parents while they were there and while I was on Kauai, I was doing some body boarding in the surf was pretty rough. I had just finished riding a wave in and took my board and as I turned, a wave hit the board and it slammed into my head. The rest they say is history. I ended up in a hospital there before being airlifted by helicopter to tripler hospital in Pearl Harbor for about 5 weeks. I then ended up coming home to Milwaukee and staying at the spinal cord unit in the Milwaukee VA for 15 months. Glad to be though.

hi Richard here :-)

31st of January 1983, diving off a bridge 30 feet high into 2 feet of water, yes I know it sounds a little bit stupid but the tide had gone out where we were and needed been a few hours since we had been back in the water, where I dived in was plentiful deep earlier in the day when I went back again and dived off it had pushed the sandbar up, the rest is history

I am C4/C5 incomplete 4 complete 5 not able to use any other devices just the QS when gaming

My favourite games are hack and slash like skyrim & the witch 3

Over the last five years technology has really came ahead in leaps and bounds putting a lot of us guys and girls on an equal footing with able-bodied people :-) I am just waiting for my digital SLR camera rig to be completed and then I'll be able to go crazy by myself once I'm set up,

My 3 favourite categories gaming, photography, music all covered with amazing technology obviously the quadstick for gaming, CamRanger for photography, jamboxx for playing music on a digital electronic harmonica which is great fun.

My name is Gerard Hihn. I'm 33 years old and from rural Southwestern Wisconsin.  A little over 11 years ago I was involved in a rollover car accident, which crushed my spinal cord  at the c3/c4 area.  I am ventilator dependent. Since then I have been trying to go to school to get into computer programming. I am also thankful for technology like the Quadstick not only for gaming, but also for schoolwork.

I'm been working with a similar program. Although a pressure ulcer I have keeps opening up  which leaves me on bed rest. I'm also trying to raise money for a new van, as the transmission in current van went out. As soon I solve both of those setbacks I'm hoping I'll be able start going back to school.

of the world's top 20 most poisonous land snakes Australia can lay claim to 16 of them :-) owning the top 10 outright, and also when you add the blue ringed octopus & funnel-web spider you could say we are a very poisonous species,

I will take my chances with the creepy crawlies :-) rather than being lunch for a big furry bear :-)

Hey my name is Michael Hurlock and I am from Storrs Connecticut, living right next to UConn. Go Huskies! I am a C4/C5 quad after a diving injury. Not from a height or anything, just one of those things you do 100 times and the 101st time doesn't turn out the way you want it to. I ran along the beach, took three or four giant running jumps/steps into the water and dove in. My head was probably tilted just a little too far forward – and that's all she wrote. Ironically an EMT crew was training at the location at the same time.

So out of everyone here, I'm probably one of the older gamers at 44 years old. Pretty weird to say that – my injury occurred over 26 years ago. I used to computer game when I was first injured, but then took a long hiatus and was a jealous watcher while everyone else played consoles like Nintendo, Sega, and even earlier versions of the Xbox and PlayStation. The QuadStick is awesome because it allows me to destress and connect with my nephew online, although it takes a while to catch up on over 20 years of non-gaming!

I know Star Wars Battlefront isn't the favorite of some, but for some reason I am hooked on it. I'm trying Battlefield 1, but the aiming and shooting quickly enough is tough. So I'm the one taking the bullets for everyone on my team ;-). It's all good though. Right now I'm trying to get better at Rocket League – it seems like a fun way to compete after being on the sidelines for so long. I enjoy all your stories… Although it's an older book, I was featured in a chapter of the book "From There to Here" by Gary Karp who is a para. It's about 40 stories of spinal cord injured people that found a way to cope. The QuadStick is a definite way to do that! Shout out to Fred for all his hard work!

So if I haven't friended you – or you me – I'm on Xbox one as DropZone1990. See you all out there in the gaming world!
Mike

me again

In relation to ages I hit 54 years of age on 11 January 2017 :-) and yes watching my younger brother all my nephews gaming throughout the 34 years of disability & all of these of different consoles and being the ever faithful sidekick who remembered were all the lives and ammunition were,

My 4 favourite classics games in the early years
Sonic spinball on the mega Drive was the first game I could play with a mouse stick as it was just basically one button

Prince of Persia on my little Mac classic caused infinite damage using a mouse stick playing that game :-)

Zelda Ocarina of Time was a mighty blast of the game my teenage nephew and I playing it over the Christmas holidays 24/7 almost but it was such good fun.

My most favourite game that I truly believe change the way or games were made was that ever sexy beautiful Lara Croft in Tomb Raider :-) I could tell you where every health and ammunition were located. My brother got really frustrated because he couldn't get past a certain section & this is where my Prince of Persia days made me think two steps and then jump, so I got him to try that and he looked at me and said "I hate you" I have been trying that for an hour or so now :-) one part that totally cracked me up is where the waterfall is as if you time it right you can run and jump and dive into the water :-) but he missed timed it and landed on the rocks and poor old Lara broke her neck I wet myself laughing hysterically tears rolling down my cheeks as it had real good bone crunching sounds :-) funniest thing I've ever seen everyone else who was watching had the look of sheer horror looking at me to see what I would say :-) but it really tickled my funnybone

Nowadays I just really love Skyrim remastered on the PS4 & The Witcher 3 also on the PS4 I also enjoy project cars on my PS4

I wrote to Fred and said it is unbelievable what this version of the Quadstick has done for my psyche :-) like one of the other guy said been stuck in bed sometimes can be monotonous and boredom personified, but the QS has enable me to escape into a whole new world of adventure of hacking and slashing :-) now I can unleash hell on the gaming world totally independent of others once I am set up. And I truly believe that the QS has changed the lives and an outlook on life for many people with high level disabilities.

I too enjoy reading all your stories thanks for sharing

I do have a facebook account. Just search for Gerard Hihn. If you find more than one, just look for the picture of me (a big hairy guy) surrounded by  my brother and sister.

Man I remember playing tomb raider on PlayStation. I got a demo disc from PlayStation magazine with it on there and I would play it over and over again. Never did get the game though just like I never got the legend of Zelda ocarina of time but I did get the legend of Zelda majora's mask. I loved that game too.

Hey Kevin, just curious, for the most part has Richmond been a very accessible place for you? Downtown, out West, Henrico County? I lived in Richmond for about 7 years before my accident, went to school there. I would love to move back but it still gets awful cold up there.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm Connor. On December 26, 2013 I was hit head-on by a drunk driver. I'm C2 – C6 and I am in Independence Missouri (basically Kansas City)
