I know this is a old tired question but what is the best workaround for the PS5?

Some people have had good luck with the P5MATE by Beloader.  Others have not been able to get it to work.

The Cronus Zen had a software update that allows direct play, but the start up process is kind of complicated and has to be repeated each time the console wakes up or powers up.  Not really suitable for quadstick users who just want to turn it on and have it work.

Brook has announced a new PS5 adapter that I have not tested yet, but should be here this week.

....so, check back later in the week after I've had a chance to try the new Brook adapter.

The Beloader Besavior works well.  It is a modified Sony Playstation PS5 controller that lets the quadstick override the joysticks and buttons.  The downside is the touchpad only allows "press" in the center.  No XY location control for pressing on the side or swiping.
