Side tube and joystick stopped working

For the last week the side tube kept changing modes on its own periodically when I wasn't touching it so I had it taken off and cleaned in case anything was blocking it but now it won't sense any sipping and puffing on it and it's attached correctly. Also, the joystick stopped working. The mouthpiece sipping and puffing is working and the lip button but just not the joystick and side tube. Is there anything to try to fix it or is the whole unit defective? Thanks!

This might sound silly, but have you unplugged it from the computer/consul for a complete power down and restart?

You could perform a basic test using joy.cpl on a Windows PC.

First, back up all the CSV files in your quadstick's flash to a folder on the PC.

Download the Default Configuration and Default Preferences files using the QMP or copy the two CSV files I have attached into your Quadstick's flash, overwriting the ones in the flash.

Then cycle power to the quadstick and follow the procedure outlined in this article.

If things work ok, then the problem was a configuration issue.  If it still malfunctions, it is something in hardware and may need to come in for service.

Since two unrelated things, the joystick and the side tube, are both malfunctioning, it may just be a configuration problem.

I tried the default configuration and preferences and it registers on the joy.cpl test, even though it doesn't move the mouse outside of the test, but it won't let me sip the side tube into mode 3. It doesn't register to switch modes.

In the Default Configuration, the mouse mode is mode 5.  It will start in Left Analog and you should be able to test all 13 buttons in that mode and the joystick itself without changing the mode.

The only thing left to test for the hardware is the side tube.  Does the #5 LED light up when you sip/puff on the side tube?  The  Red & Blue LEDs are not dependent on the configuration file and should light up when you sip/puff regardless of the configuration.  Make sure the brightness is not turned down.

Oh okay. The side tube doesn't change the mode for me. It just stays on the first light. The LEDs work for the mouthpiece and lip button clicking.

On its way back.  The side tube sensor was broken off the circuit board inside
