Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Google home this past black Friday. Of course, I wanted to control things like calling/receiving phone calls, listening to music, and changing the channel. Come to find out Google home is not yet compatible with DirecTV. With a little research I found out a way to get it to work. This is the initial website I found. https://www.reddit.com/r/googlehome/comments/5xwl1j/control_directv_genie_with_google_home_using/#bottom-comments

I was unable to get it to work using that method from the website. What I did was use the service Anymote smart remote.

When making a new applet make sure you click "this" (Google assistant) and "that"(whichever service you choose)

One note I would like to say about the first link: on the third step the service you can use for making a web request Is Webhooks. (Took a little while to get that)

There are a ton of services and different ways to create traders. Hopefully this helps out. :-)

Yes. I use Google home, Harmony hub, and IFTTT to hook up different devices including those that use infrared remotes. I think there are some others on this forum doing something similar. Probably works with Alexa, also.

When choosing whether to get Alexa or Google home, right now I would say to get the Google home if you have safety issues because it's able to make phone calls to landlines with no special app required.
