Can you list the equipment you have?

CronusMax?
Tobii EyeX or 4C?
Windows PC?  10 or 7?

Software:

What software do you have for using the eyegaze?

Have you been using Project Iris?
Do you have other software that lets the eye gaze control the mouse pointer?

I'm not familiar with the Eyetech TM4, but if it can act like a mouse pointer, with the mouse location following your gaze, we might be able to make this work.    Here is a quick test:

This all assumes the same screen is used for the PC and the PS4.
  1. Plug the Quadstick into the PC
  2. Back up all your CSV files in your Quadstick to a folder on your PC for safekeeping.  We are going to make some changes and you can quickly get back to your existing configuration setup by copying your backup back into the Quadstick when the test is over.
  3. Connect the CM to the PS4, the PC via the PCPROG port, and the DS4 into the Input of the CM.
  4. Start the Quadstick Manager Program
  5. Make sure that "Enable boot in PS4 mode" is off.  If it was on, turn it off
  6. Turn on "Enable Cronusmax"
  7. If you changed either preference, save the preferences, then restart the QMP after the "boing".
  8. In the External Pointers tab, set Mouse Capture Settings to either Position or Motion.
  9. F10 turns on and off the capture mode, as does the big button.  Turn on capture and the screen should fade and the green bars in the left hand cross should react to any mouse movement caused by the TM4.
F10 will turn off the capture.

If that works, the next step is to put in a configuration that uses that external pointer data.  Try loading UltraStik Default and when the F10 capture is active, the eyegaze/mouse should flow through to the Quadstick as the right joystick when in mode 1.

This web page can give you a quick check of the game controller values.  Position it so it is visible and behind the QMP, the start the F10 capture.  Axis 0 and 1 are the left joystick, and Axis 2 & 3 are the right joystick.  The numbers should change as you change the inputs.

Next try it with the PS4 on the screen.  We will still need to come up with a way to handle the Touchpad, but if all this works, we can solve that later.

Try both the Position and Motion settings in the Mouse Capture settings to see which works best.

When you are done testing, you can copy back all your CSV files and overwrite the ones in the Quadstick to get back to your current configuration.

Thank you, that all seemed to work but when I got the ps4 screen on my laptop screen via remote play the quadstick stopped working. What am I doing wrong?

I don't think it will work with remote play.  You will need to connect the HDMI connector on the back of the PS4 to the same monitor that the PC uses and connect the CronusMax to the PS4.  Get the eyegaze and QMP running then switch the monitor to the PS4.

Remote play is going to prevent the QMP from capturing the mouse from the eyegaze.

Hello,

I think I'm having troubles with the "capture mouse location" button. I currently control my PS4 and PC just fine. I'm trying to add an external pointer (perMobil Bluetooth joystick). I have successfully paired the Bluetooth joystick to my PC. However, when I click the capture mouse location button, nothing happens. It says it's supposed to go to a full-screen window, but nothing happens. I've tried clicking F10 with the on-screen keyboard, and by using a "triple sip soft" command through a game file. Nothing happens.

Quadstick purchased about 3 years ago with lip button

Uninstalled QMP and reinstalled 3.0.7

restarted and updated PS4 and PC

Connections

Quadstick connected to PC by USB. PC connected to CronusMax by USB in PCProg. DS4 connected to CronusMax. CronusMax connected to PS4.

PS4 and PC connected by HDMI cables to a Samsung 4K TV.

There is also a Quad Joy attached to the computer.

Settings

DS4 "prepared"

Disabled remote-play on PS4

Firmware 2117

tried both position/motion in external pointer tab

Misc tab

digital output 1-uncheck

digital output 2-uncheck

Bluetooth-none

enable select file-check

enable swap inputs-uncheck

enable CronusMax -check

enable auto zero-uncheck

enables secular dead zone-check

enable voice commands-uncheck

enable file management-check

enable boot in PS4 mode-uncheck

enable USB a host-uncheck

I'll look into this tomorrow.  Just got back home from traveling.

Looks like you've covered all the bases.

Try the new update to QMP 3.08.  I found a bug that was preventing the mouse capture from starting.

Any chance there is another issue with the "external pointer center dead zone" setting? I've tried 0-100 and there seems to be no effect while playing on the PS4.

You'll need to describe the problem.  The external pointer center dead zone is for the UltraStik.  The mouse doesn't have a deadzone.

I don't know what you are using the mouse input for.

Awww… I see.
I am using a Permobil joystick connected to a PC, acting as a mouse (see initial question below). The external pointer (2nd or left joystick, on PS4) is controlled by capturing that mouse movement. I was trying to control the dead zone of the Permobil joystick, with the "external pointer center dead zone" setting. However, if I understand right, since the joystick is acting as a mouse, that mouse movement does not have a dead zone. Any dead zone control would have to be controlled before the mouse action/movement???

Initial question of mine from 12/24

Is the console acting like the left joystick is not centered?

You could use "greater_than ##" instead of "normal" for the output function between usb_1_* and the left_joy_* to force the output to 0 when centered.

Howdy,

I think I'm having troubles with mouse capture again. I downloaded 3.09 and, when I click F10, the becomes “grey” displaying mouse capture active, as normal.
However, when I move the mouse, the Green on the “X” doesn’t move correctly (external pointer tab). Most of the time it doesn’t move at all. It flickers sometimes. It’s reaction to mouse movement seems erratic. AND the mouse pointer becomes visible on the edge of the screen sometimes.

The PlayStation seems to respond according to what the Green on the “X” shows. Ex. when the green moves up, my ps4 left joystick moves up.

I currently control my PS4 and PC windows 7. I'm trying to add an external pointer (perMobil Bluetooth joystick). I have successfully paired the Bluetooth joystick to my PC.

Has anything changed in your configuration?  Was it working then stopped working?  If so, what change?

You mention the Quad Joy, is that new?  Try disconnecting it and see if things behave differently.   With three mouse devices connected to the pc, the quadstick, the quadjoy and the permobile joystick, there may an interaction.

We could increase the filtering in the derived joystick position to make the value steadier but it sounds like there is some kind of conflict going on.
