I'm considering getting a QuadStick because I can no longer use regular controllers because of my disability and I was wondering how it works with games using two analog sticks. Do you have to keep switching modes to switch between the two or is there some way to have it be like using both? Moving and aiming at the same time is something I got used to when I used to use regular controllers. If you have to only switch between using one at a time, do you get used to not moving and aiming at the same time in games? Thanks!

What games are you considering playing? Also what is your disability. Some people who have the quadstick are still able to use an Ultrastik with one hand and a quadstick with their mouth allowing them to control both movement and aim. I'm a level C-4 quad and can only use the quadstick. I have played destiny, the division, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XV, Dragon age Inquisition, no man's sky and Witcher 3. You're able to customize profiles to be able to play games how you want. For me, I tend to have the controls where if I moved the stick up and down, I move forward and backward, and if I move the stick left and right, it controls looking left and right allowing me to move in that direction. (Some games like Final Fantasy XV, you have to set it up where moving the stick left and right will turn you and look at the same time.) When it comes to shooter games I tend to play where I move like I explained above and if I need to aim and shoot I will have the profile set up where if I use the input I have set for my scope it will move to the next tab in my profile world allow me to utilize the right joystick and aim. Unfortunately that leaves you standing still. I usually find cover to do this. I know there are some people who have it where they will have an input set where it will latch or toggle and when they utilize that input they will continually move forward and then they can use the left/right/up/down movement for aiming. I know steamybiscuit has utilized that profile style before. For the most part I tend to look for games in which I already know the controls.

It's not perfect and it can be difficult but I have played all the way through the division, destiny and Final Fantasy X since I got the quadstick. Some other games that that it works great for our games like Diablo 3 where you don't utilize a 2nd analog stick.

120% agree with Kasey! As a C4-5 quad I only use the quadstick as well. I play Battlefront as my shooter game with the controls similar to Kasey. Does that make me the best Battlefront player? Far from it. But with experience you get better and even though I'm dying quite a bit, I'm not as bad as I used to be. Practice makes it easier. Also there are other types of games if you get frustrated with shooter games. RPG games usually allow for the combination movement Kasey describes to work quite well. Configuring Witcher 3 or Shadows of Mordor are great games when you get a little better. There are also strategy games such as Magic the Gathering or Defense Grid 2 to name a few in which strategy comes into play. Rocket League is also fun as well! Hope to see you out there soon!

Thank you guys! I have Duchenne muscular dystrophy so I might be able to make the Ultrastick work with the QuadStick. How do you go about setting it up where you can use both together? Also, I like how you can customize how the Quadstick works and adjust the controls as well as different ways to activate different modes. This will help a lot. I play a variety of different games like RPGs, action games, racing, FPS. I like series like Final Fantasy, Forza, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, Dragon Age, Battlefield, Dark Souls, Bioshock, etc. :)

LOL 200% on what Kasey said

I am also a C4/C5 incomplete 4 complete 5 high-level quad & I only use the QS as my gaming controller

I am a big fan of the mediaeval hack and slash sword fighting style games as it's a great way to introduce yourself to the mouth control with the QS a.k.a. quadrstick the witcher 3 is a great game to play but not around children as there is quite a lot of adult content :-) :-) skyrim is also another one I'm a fan of building yourself up to be a champion :-)

I love Project cars as you can configure the game settings itself to make driving great fun just with the mouthpiece,

I am playing using the PS4 I love the QS so much I bought a couple of extra spare controllers as I have a little bit of funding left over last financial year.

Like I said to Fred and others on the forum the QS has enabled me to be a gamer who can now compete on an equal footing with able-bodied people in the gaming world, no more just the ever faithful sidekick watching my brother or nephews play, I can do it whenever I like myself without having to wait for someone to come over to play games :-)

having MD you will have no problem playing any of the games available as it takes very little breast capacity to do it :-)

If you decide to play the witcher 3 or skyrim and need some pointers just drop me a line happy to help

To be honest I have been a bit lazy in learning how to program the CSV for different games and making it easier on myself LOL, but the good thing is a lot of games you can get away using the default controller settings :-)

The only annoying thing with the PS4 is it has the touchpad and you really need to use it in certain games to access certain features, which is easily circumvented but just the pain to go through all the settings to set it up

I know you'll love it once you start using it & welcome to the QS club :-) which I have found to be a great bunch of people ready to help out in any way they can with shared knowledge

Cheers from down under

Richard

Thanks Richard! I ordered it today and I'm excited in joining the Quadstick community. I haven't been able to play lately and I've been missing my favorite hobby. It'll be great to play again on even footing with everyone else. I'm glad it works well with the games you mentioned. I'm sure I'll get used to using it in no time. :)

when you can have fun like this :-) it helped relieve some of the daily frustrations having a high-level disability :-) getting rid of all that pent-up crap within a game is more fun and quite exhausting after a four or five hour session

Cheers Richard

I totally agree. It's a good stress reliever and way to forget about having a disability when playing.

hey man i have md and I use an external touchpad mouse called the perix perripad the smaller one so just need a finger and a slight tap for click. if you're on pc it with automatically be aim and it is no lag switching from controller to mouse aiming its how i did borderlands 3 all the way threw. other games like the halo series the delay sucks but doable in campaign but multiplayer is impossible and warzone lets you only do controller or mouse, so to get around this you play on console and with the cronus max, you can then do the same setup on the pc and there is absolutely no lag.

I have  Duchenne muscular dystrophy too, i'm 35 and Vent dependent. I can somewhat use a PC mouse but needed QS for games. What I did was use the QS as the controler/keyboard and used my PC mouse to aim/look. For twin sticks I set QS to mouse mode and then used GlovePie to make my PC mouse a second mouse so i had 2 mouse cursors working at once on my PC. I set stick 1 to QS and stick 2 to mouse 2. GlovePie is free and worked for me as i only played PC. Sadly i don't have time to game anymore, my mouse is getting harder to use, so i'll get a singleton soon and likely sell the QS or keep it as backup.
