Hi Fred and QS,

I just received my new US360 and was wondering if anyone has ever seen this problem below, I've emailed Ultimarc but thought I would also ask here to see if anyone has seen the issue:

For some reason under the joy.cpl in Windows 10 it only shows up with 32 buttons and no Axes.  Please see the picture below:

I've also noticed that when I plug the USB cable in the light on the 360FS circuit board is sometimes continually solid and other times it is flashing.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards
Glenn

Go to https://gamepad-tester.com/ and send us a screen capture of the result.  If no controller shows, unplug and then plug in the US360 again.

I suspect they installed the wrong firmware.

Thanks Fred, here's the screen capture.

When I first loaded https://gamepad-tester.com/ I noticed Timestamp and Axis 0 was constantly changing.  Then when I moved the joystick I did get readings for both axis and then timestamp stopped counting but I still get nothing in joy.cpl?

Using the UltraMap software I see the Axis and it tests ok, although it doesn't centre properly.  For use when I end up plugging it into the QS what mode should I use, analogue, 4-way or 8-way?

I haven't tried an UltraStik with joy.cpl before.  I always use gamepad-tester.

Anyway, I get the same results you do with joy.cpl.  That ultrastik should work fine with the quadstick or QMP.

In QMP, turn on Enable CronusMax PCPROG:

Restart QMP if the UltraStik was not plugged in prior to launch.  You should see:

Version: 3.09.2
QuadStick drive letter: H:
Loaded preferences OK
QuadStick Game Controller interface successfully opened
UltraStik 360 Joystick 1 interface successfully opened

The External Pointers tab should show the crosshairs moving.

Do not make any configuration changes to the UltraStik with UltraMap.  The Quadstick and QMP expect it to be in its factory default settings.

Thanks Fred.  Unfortunately I don't get UltraStik 360 Joystick 1 interface successfully opened in QMP.  Would you know if there is a way to reset the UltraStik to factory settings?

Also does it matter that my Quadstick drive letter is K?

Make sure it is mapped as Analog:

Did that and started QMP after 360 connection and this is what I get.

Did you power cycle the ultrastik ?  It won't change until the next time it powers up.

I don't have power to the ultrastik only USB.  So I connected the ultrastik to the QuadStick, unplugged the QuadStick from the PC, reconnected the QuadStick to the PC, ran QMP and I still only get:

Version: 3.09.2
QuadStick drive letter: K:

Loaded preferences OK
QuadStick Game Controller interface successfully opened

However the LED on the ultrastik is now continuously flashing?

Unplug the USB connection between the PC and the UltraStik.  Then plug it in again.  Then (re)start QMP.

Sorry Fred, I'm completely confused.  I thought the UltraStik plugged into the USB port on the back of the QuadStick?

Sorry for the confusion, the QMP picks it up now.  Quick question, when using buttons does the button go in the 3.5 jack in the back of the QuadStick?

The UltraStik can be hooked up two different ways: Direct to the Quadstick or via QMP

When connected to the Quadstick it won't be visible to QMP.

Thanks Fred, is one connection better than the other?  Is there any input lag when connected to the PC but programmed through the QuadStick?  Since I don't use a CronusMax should I connect the 360 directly to the QuadStick?  Thanks again for all your help, it really is appreciated.

Direct is better.  QMP does not have to be running when using it directly.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your reply, I seem to have it working correctly connected directly to the QuadStick.

Now I just need to find a spring with less tension because after I cut the shaft shorter and put on the wheelchair handle on I found out I don't have enough strength / movement to activate it?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards
Glenn

Inside the ultrastik is a bushing that determines the spring tension.  It can be made shorter on a lathe, or replaced with a 3D printed version.

The way I offer different spring tensions is to replace the factory bushing with a short 3D printed version and have different spacers that can be inserted to adjust the tension.

Here is a video of a guy taking one apart:  https://youtu.be/4zoKvdsIgVw

I marked the bushing with a red arrow.
I've attached the STL file for the replacement bushings.

Thank you so much Fred, that's awesome.  I'm off to find a 3D printer!  Thanks again

They want the parts in separate files, which I have attached.  They won't be any cheaper than makexyz for quantities of one.  At one hundred they are down less than $4 per set.
