Mouse freezes

Hi gang,

I have a rather odd issue, odd to me anyhow. When I open Rust, as soon as it loads my mouse pointer freezes. The buttons work though. I've been playing rust for almost 2 years daily. It started yesterday all of a sudden. I use a quadstick for most everything and I can operate a standard mouse. This is the only game I'm having this with. I contacted facepunch support and they basically said it's on my end. Mind you there was an update recently. Here's what I tried so far: 

-Reboot PC various times

-Rebooted the quadstick

-Switched QS profile in case it was corrupt or something

-Tried a few different games

-prayed to a higher power

-unplugged the mouse

-removed the mouse and added

not in that order and most of them multiple times.

Have any of you heard of or experienced this in the past? I really feel its on the game end since they recently released an update.

Describe "freeze".

The game stops responding to Quadstick mouse inputs completely and permanently while still responding to 3rd party mouse?  

Or moves in jerks with pauses between movements?

Doing some google searching for rust mouse freeze shows lots of responses, but those seem to be lagging and jerking type problems, not a hard freeze.

Just the cursor freezes. QS still works, mouse buttons l/r still work. I looked at those, not the same issue.

I'm trying to distinguish between a cursor or mouse that lags and/or moves in jerks or one that does not ever move at all, no movement, completely dead.

People use the phrase "mouse freezes" to mean both and they are different issues.
