Using USB-A

I got a thick USB cable, but it's an A. The LEDs won't even light up. Its 2.0 speed and 240W:

I've done this with the USB-A Host Mode disenabled and enabled in the QMP. I've never had success with USB-A BTW.

Power comes through USB-B.  It cannot come through USB-A.  The LEDs will only light up if USB-B is powered.  USB-B is the primary USB port.  The manual describes this.  There are a series of definite rules that must be followed.

I'm not sure about that cable.  Male-A-to-male-A, is a specific type of host-to-host cable.  A-to-C may not work the same way, it could be Host-to-Device.  You may need to use an USB-C to USB-A female OTG cable with an A-to-A cable.   It might work, I don't know, but it definitely cannot be a power source for the Quadstick.

If you are going to use USB-A in device mode, the USB-A Host mode MUST be off prior to connecting anything.

USB-A- Host mode can ONLY be set in the Preferences prefs.csv file, which QMP creates.  NO WHERE ELSE.  Never set that preference in a configuration CSV file.  It must be set at power up and not be change.   You can completely lock up the Quadstick if you try to change that setting later on under the right circumstances, then you'll be forced to erase the memory can start over with your config files.

enable_usb_a_device on the other hand is the the preference setting that is used in an individual configuration file to flip the data connection over to the A port when that file is selected.

Just the opposite of enable_usb_a_host, enable_usb_a_device must never be set to 1 in prefs.csv.
