The loss of the Brook Wingman XB converter as a viable option for XBox users will force me to rewrite the Quick Start Guides that are included in the box with new Quadsticks.
The configuration files that the Quadstick currently ships with are for games that are no longer as popular as they were when that list was made up. This is an opportunity to fix both problems at once.
When a Quadstick is ordered, the buyer is asked to choose their primary platform: PC, Mac, or Console, and which console: XBox, or Playstation.
Those choices determine which set of configuration files are copied into the Quadstick and what printed matter is included in the box.
The configuration files currently are (for the XBox console choices):
When someone orders the primary platform as PC, then the Default Configuration's default.csv file gets renamed zdefault.csv and Mouse2's mouse.csv gets renamed default.csv. If someone orders PS4, the "Boot in PS4 USB mode" setting is turned on. If someone orders an UltraStik 360 at the same time, they get basic UltraStik versions of these same files. The Mac option gets a Mac version of the Mouse2 configuration. In all, there are about sixteen different sets of files that can get copied into a Quadstick, depending on the options chosen.
The thinking behind this list was to include at least one configuration file for each platform and examples of XBox 360 for PC and an X360CE configuration. Now days, very few people use X360CE.
Think back to when you first confronted that list of files and what would have made it easier for you to get started?
What configuration files would be better to include or exclude?
Should platform exclusive configuration files be included, for example: Journey PS4 on a Quadstick intended for XBox or PC, or Portal2 on a Quadstick intended for a console?
What are all the cool kids playing? What games would be worth adding?
