I did some more poking around. EasyWorship 2009 seems to use BDE as well, and the same DB structure as 2007. Their "database" is a group of files zipped in a .dat file (In the demo version the main DB is called "demoDB.dat".Simply rename the file to .zip, and extract the files. Then download the Paradox Data Editor, and open each table and use the "Export" function to export the files to CSV. I'm ssure you can take it from there

There is a easy way to import new songs: EasyWorship 2007 Conversion Utility v1.6Visit and download.Simply you will need to make a directory with txt files of each song of hymnal .Each txt file must have the first line equal to name of the song.I usually normalize as example to be more ordered in EasyWorship : MH XYZ name of song(MH = methodist hymn)(XYZ = number of hymn example 001 )If you sent the methodist txt to me I could send to you some examples of EWS easyworship files to import.

I've actually did some research about that, without even really using openlp. I really dislike easyworship (the name to begin with), so i ran across this tool easysearch. Have a look at -productions.co.uk/Software.htm and I think that's the tool you may want. Export to CCLI, import in openlp or whatever and there you go.However, if you mean exporting bibel texts from easyworship, I can't help you :(

Hello,My trial of easyworship has expired, so I can't open it. I have a series of .EWS files which contain songs - I want the songs out preferably without having to use easyworship itself (since I can't).Thanks,Sam

Those are EasyWorship service files. I don't know what format they use. The last time I used EasyWorship, you needed the songs in the database, so look at extracting the songs from the demoDB.dat file.

Not sure when this was added to Openlp, but in case anyone else is considering a switch or needs to import songs, somone(s) done very nice work on the importing functions.  Switching from Easyworship (previous church) to Openlp and the import tool imported all 900+ songs with little difficulty.Kudos.

Hi

The attached file has a program and a user manual that helps to export the songs from Easy Worship and then import them into OpenLP. It also allows you to use plain text files with songs in it to generate the xml files for OpenLP. Please contact me if you are having any issues using it. Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm new to openLP.
I'm having the same case as cowjam. Our EasyWorship 2009 has expired and now I need to import all the existing .ews files into openLP.

@jhosack
How did you import the 900+ songs from EasyWorship to OpenLP? Would you please share the procedure?

@mukeshmorar
I'm unable to access the dropbox file above (404 error). Would you please share the user manual?

Thanks all!

If you are using an earlier version of OpenLP or, come from another softwarepackage, you may be able to convert your existing database to work in OpenLP.OpenLP can import songs from the following sources:

Converting from OpenSong, you will need to locate your songs database. In thelater versions of OpenSong you are asked to define the location of this. Thesongs will be located in a folder named Songs. This folder willcontain files with all your songs in them, without a file extension (file.xxx).When you have located this folder you will need to select the songs fromthe folder.

On most operating systems, to select all the songs, first select the first songin the list, press the shift key, and select the last song in the list. Afterthis press Next and you will see that your import has beensuccessful.

You will be asked to choose a download location if your browser does notautomatically select one for you. Select the downloaded file from the OpenLPimport window and then click Next. When import is finished, you willfind your song in the Library.

Note: Most operating systems allow you to select multiple songs for importby selecting the first item in the list and then holding the Shift andselecting the last item in the list or holding the Ctrl and selecting thefiles individually.

Double Click the TurboDB for VCL 6 file you downloaded and follow theprompts to install the programs. Use all the default options for any questionsyou may be asked. Once the installation is complete open TurboDB Viewerfrom the start menu.

Use the File Selection window to select any of the files in your database directory.When the File Selection window closes you will see the tables in the databasedisplayed near the top of the TurboDB Viewer window. Select the SQL tab justabove the table names.

The Wizard will update and allow you to set the options for the export.Verify that the checkbox for The First row of the file holds the fieldnames is checked.Verify that the Quoted Character is the double quote.Verify that the Fields are separated by option is a comma.Then press the Continue button.

LiveWorship stores your songs in a proprietary database format which OpenLP isunable to access directly. You will first need to convert it to an XML filefile, which OpenLP will then be able to import. This can be done by downloadingValentina Studio from Valentina DB. It isavailable for both Windows, Linux and macOS. The free version is enough forwhat is needed to convert the song database. After installing Valentina Studio,open it.

The first time you open Valentina Studio you can enter register and get a serialnumber (it is available for free) to get full access to Valentina Studio. Youcan also just cancel or skip this step, which will open Valentina Studio in demomode, meaning it will only work for 10 minutes at a time, but that is enough forconverting a database.

When you want to create a new song slide or, once you have a song imported, youwant to edit and rearrange the Title & Lyrics, Author, Topics & Song Book,assign a Theme, or edit Copyright Info & Comments, you will do this through theSong Editor.

To edit an existing song you can either click on a song in theLibrary and then click the button to Edit the selected songor right click a song from either the Library or additionallyfrom the Service and click Edit item. If you areadding a new song click Add a new Song in the Library.

The Lyrics window shows all lyrics imported or added. On the left side ofthe lyrics you will see a capital letter followed by a number. A V1 wouldrepresent verse 1, C1 would be Chorus 1. You will use these letters andnumbers for the order to display the lyrics.

After you entered or edited your song, you will want OpenLP to display theverses in the correct order you want them displayed. On the left side ofyour lyrics you will see C1, V1, V2 etc. the way they were imported or added.To put your lyrics in the correct order is as simple as typing in theVerse order box at the bottom, the correct order you want themdisplayed, with only a blank space in between each entry. The correct formatwill look like this: V1 C1 V2 C1 V3 C1. If you forget to put a space inbetween the order, or if you do not have the corresponding verse number,OpenLP will politely tell you with a pop-up error message what is wrong soyou can correct your mistake and save it. Verse order is optional and ifleft blank the verses will display in the order seen in Lyrics.

OpenLP gives you the ability to clone a song. This could be useful if youuse a different version of the song with slightly different lyrics. Insteadof typing in all the lyrics again, you can clone it which makes an identicalcopy of the original song.

To Add a new verse, click on Add. The main window is whereyou will type your lyrics. OpenLP is packaged with a spell checker for mostlanguages. If you misspell a word it will be underlined. Right click theunderlined word and left click Spelling Suggestions or you can ignore itand continue typing. You also have the ability to format the font usingFormatting Tags. Highlight the word/words you want to format and rightclick the highlight. Left click Formatting Tags and choose the format youwant to apply to the font and the format tags will be entered with yourlyrics. These tags are not visible when displayed. To remove the format,delete the tag on each end of the word or sentence.

Inserts an optional split into the verse. An optional split is used byOpenLP to improve splitting verses when presenting on a screen where thereis not room for the entire verse on one screen. If an optional split exists,OpenLP will use it when splitting the verse, otherwise it will simply splitthe verse when reaching the end of the screen.

Once your Title & Lyrics are added or edited the way you want them you mustadd or enter the author or authors of the song. OpenLP requires all songs tohave an author entered. You can add a blank space for the author name.

Click the drop down arrow to view all authors or start typing a name in thebox and a list will appear. If the authors name has not been added, typethe authors name in the box and click Add to Song. The authorsname will appear below and will also be added to your database. If youaccidentally add the wrong author you can click on the authors name and click Remove.

To the right of the button a count down timer for the audio file isdisplayed to indicate the play time remaining for the linked audio file. If youhave multiple linked audio files, the play time remaining will only be for thecurrent playing linked audio file.

By selecting the drop down menu between the button and the count downtimer you can jump to the next linked audio file for the song using Next Track or selectthe Tracks menu selection and jump to any linked audio file in the song.

Linked audio files or groups of linked audio files can repeat when the last filefinishes playing. To set linked audio files to repeat, enable the Repeat track listin Configuring OpenLP on the General page.

Linked audio files can be set to start playing as soon as the first slide of the songis displayed. To enable the linked audio files to start playing when the first slideis displayed, disable the Start background audio paused option in Configuring OpenLPon the General page.
