Would any one tell me what is the back ground you are seeing when you
run 50% organic with 50% water with 0.1% acid mobile phase in the
standard mass range? It could be thru a column or thry a syringe pump
or just FIA.

Thanks,
Roy

I will be sending you the data I obtained on my QTOF with the LC we cleaned here in Chicago.

Roy and David,

We have recently purchased a new 6510 and have started listening to
the chatter concerning use of the instrument. Can you tell me, why
has cleaning of the LC been mentioned so often? Or has it? I heard
discussion of it during the user's meeting today, and I see it also in
this message board. I realize while writing this that it may just be
an inquiry from the same individual. However, anything that can give
me a heads up on our impending install and utilization would be very
beneficial. To judge my degree of naivity, I am mainly a triple quad
bioanalytical guy with a fair amount of experience with metabolite
identification, all small molecule. I believe that I am about to have
an education into background contamination issues that may not have
been as much of a problem with the MRM methods that we are used to.

Thanks much and look forward to the hearty discussions to follow.

Chad,

I wanted to know what is the background level other users are seeing. Since there is no official check out for back ground level for any LCMS, I wanted to know what are the experiences with other users. David was kind enough to say he would be looking at the data at his instrument. Hope this clarifies.

Other users (specially small molecules) Please let us know what are the back ground levels in your instrument with the conditions used for background monitoring. Background monitoring can be very important for small molecule unknown investigations at lower level.

Best,
Roy
