collect usage data

Hi everyone 

I am trying to collect usage date for time tracking purpose I have basic knowledge on python

I'm asking if there is a function to get active window

all i know that there are some hooks that call function when window changed, mouse enter  a new client

if there is more that I can collect I would be interested (list of opened window, active window, current screen, current group)

---  I'm aware of activity watch project but I want to make this by my self ----
