Hey all,

As many of you already know, I'm going to be leaving Sandia for a job at Micron at the beginning of March. Exactly how this will affect Qthreads is somewhat unknown (it's possible I'll remain involved to some degree), but at the very least, Dylan Stark and Stephen Olivier will take over primary development and maintenance. Dylan has been active in Qthreads development and maintenance for a couple years, and Stephen is the original architect and implementor of the Sherwood scheduler, so I have every confidence that the transition should be a smooth one.

Before I go, I'd like to push out an update (1.9) that contains a bunch of the improvements we've made over the last six months or so, because they include some pretty significant ones (e.g. eurekas). Does anyone have outstanding commits they would like to push in first, or some bug they would like to fix before we make the release official?

Congratulations Kyle, I hadn't heard that you were making the leap.

Before the next Qthreads release, I would be interested in:

(a) making sure that the Makefile-related patch that Michael Ferguson contributed at some point that was accepted by Qthreads but not by Chapel is pulled back out of Qthreads before the next release. It could be that it already has been backed out -- Dylan and I have talked about it a few times, but I haven't checked to see.

(b) trying a build with a pre-release candidate against Chapel to make sure it works out of the box; the last release didn't for a couple of reasons (one of which was (a) above, the others of which may have been ignorance of autotools on my part), but resulted in it not getting included in the last Chapel release. It'd be good to verify this before the release goes out rather than after (and I'd/we'ld be happy to do it once we have a release candidate with (a) done to it).

-Brad
