Hello everyone,

my study area is passing two UTM Zones (43N and 44N). I am sure someone must have run into the same issue.

I have been searching for an (global) equal area projection which is appropriate here. Am I right that WGS84 (EPSG:4326) is not  an equal area projection or is it, similarly to using UTM Zones, good enough for this purpose? My study is located in South India. Or is it more preferable to chose one UTM Zone and reproject everything into that one eventhough its not perfectly accurate?

Kind regards,
Kristina

Hello,
Use the projection which will keep your grid cell dimensions (x,y) equal. You can use a local projection (non-utm), if that is available. If there are no alternatives that you can find - just use one UTM :)
Best,
Natalja
