Is it normal to have gaps in HRU's across the landscape?

Thanks for any help with this!

Is it normal for a watershed to have blank HRU's? See pic.

Simple answer: yes in appearance, no in actuality.

When you eliminate HRUs, in the data the others are expanded to fill the
space. This cannot be shown in the actual HRUs shapefile.
