Creating reservoirs

I am trying to add infiltration trenches in the model, but i cannot seem to add these if they are not located on the streamnetwork. I tried adding them as small lakes or ponds, but i keep getting the error message that they are not on the stream network. is there a method to include these? I prefer to stay away from the user BMP options, since the infiltration of runoff is not represented as well there. Thanks!
