Wetlands and lakes challenge.

Hi Everyone, 

Hope all is well here. Am currently using SWAT+ and  my challenge is  with lakes/ wetlands. The model is running well upstream with a better NSE value upstream before the wetlands. 

Have this challenge downstream where under setting, firstly I had set the model release as drawdowns with gave a lower NSE of -994. I further made adjustments in Volumes/wetland and also changed the release method to wetlands. The NSE then changed to -23.3. 

The guidance needed is whether I have to adjust other parameters in swat+ editor to better improve the model performance before calibration. If any one has an idea, I welcome guidance.
