Hi everyone,

I'm modeling a tiny 0.01 ha mudstone badland area (all bare) using a high-res UAV DEM (0.05m * 0.05m). I'm hitting some crazy numbers and hope someone can point out the cause.

The Problem:

  • Astronomical Sediment: instream sediment change is reaching 10^12 Mg/ha.

  • Daily Output: Even on a daily scale, sed_out exceeds 10 million Mg for every each channel, even the surq_cha (surface runoff to channel) is 0, but the sediment is still exploding in the channel.

My Questions:

  1. Has anyone modeled such a small scale (0.01 ha) successfully?

  2. Has anyone modeled with tiny channel successfully? my channel is width(0.5cm) and depth(0.3cm), but that is fit with the real condition.

  3. How can I check the intermediate v_peak or sed_out calculation steps to find the "trigger" value?

All input data (soil, channel, etc.) look normal in the SQLite DB. Any insights would be much appreciated!

Best,

Olaf Chen
