Measurement API Sunset & Replacement
The QPP Measurement API released in November 2016 is being replaced by the QPP Measures Data Repository and the endpoints will be unreachable after September 30, 2017.
Why is CMS replacing the QPP Measurement API?
When CMS released the QPP Measurement API in November 2016 it was a significant step towards eliminating manual processes (and ultimately errors) around retrieving measures data, and a number of developers began using it. Since then, developers have asked for updates to improve its usability and functionality. For example, the Measurement API has a small number of data retrieval endpoints, which limits developer access to the full data set. It also contains some shorthand that was potentially confusing to developers.
Replacing the QPP Measurement API with the
QPP Measures Data Repository is the most feasible option for providing what developers want while our engineering resources are focused on priority work for the launch of QPP Submissions on January 1, 2018.
