I am, for the most part, an old school NA hard liner when it comes to our Traditions. When it comes to group autonomy I believe if the group uses NA literature and the core group members share a message based on out literature and principles, I say let 'em do whatever else they want.
"Excessive Autonomy" can give newcomers, potential members and the professionals who send us new members an inaccurate picture of what NA is and what we offer.
